The Wedding March: Table Bunting Tutorial (no sew)

This project was fun, pretty simple and quick enough that after we completed one we decided to make two more for the other tables in the reception hall.

To make this bunting you will need:

  • pennants- 14 for a 6 ft table
  • pennant template – cut out of cardboard/cardstock
  • double fold bias tape- amount will depend on the length of your table, we used 9 ft (1 package) for a 6 ft table.
  • stitch witchery/fusible bonding tape- same amount as bias tape
  • pinking shears
  • iron
  • ironing board
  • ruler
  • pencil
  • spray starch

To start, cut fabric into 8″ wide strips.  Spray with starch and iron to stiffen fabric slightly.

Use the template above to make a 6.5″ wide x 8″ high triangle out of cardboard.  Use this to trace triangles on your fabric.

Cut the triangles with pinking sheers.

Head over to your ironing board.  Open the bias tape and lay sticky side of two strips of bonding tape face down.  Hold in place while you iron. (Follow directions on package)  Bonding tape is now stuck to the bias tape.

Peel paper off of binding tape, lay pennant on one half, fold over the second half of the bias tape and re-iron.  Repeat, placing pennants 1.25″ apart.  To finish it off we tied lace bows around each end and in the center.  The bunting was safety pinned onto the table cloth at each end and in the center.
