Oatmeal Brown Sugar Scrub
Our secret to smooth legs and sandal ready summer feet is found in the pantry.
Here’s what you need:
1/2 C ground oatmeal (about 8 pulses in the food processor)
1/4 C packed brown sugar
1/4 C white sugar
1/2 C olive oil
1 tsp vanilla
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix with a spatula until well blended and store in a sealed jar. (We save old lotion jars to fill and keep any excess in small tupperware containers.)
Use in the shower to remove dead skin from feet, elbows, and knees. We also love using the scrub on our legs before shaving. The sugar lifts up any little hairs and the oil works with your regular shaving cream to help prevent irritation and nicks.

For my daughter's bridal shower last week we filled 2 ounce baby food jars, wrapped around a label, and tied on a bow!
What to Wear Wednesday- Little White Dress
Last week we talked about color-blocking, a big trend this summer. Another great look this season is the Little White Dress. Any style and any length works!
A note from Megan:
I tend to shy away from white because I’m so pale. But, I’ve found that by adding a colored cami or some colored jewelry I can wear white too. I still get a little nervous about spots and stains. I am the queen of the dropsies. But, an emergency spot remover in my purse plus Barb’s stain removal tips make me brave enough to try this out!
What to Wear Wednesday- Beautiful Skin
The sun is shining here in Ohio (finally!).
Protect your beautiful skin from wrinkles, burns and cancer.
Sunscreen tips/recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control:

- Reapply every couple hours or after swimming/sweating
- Check your sunscreen’s expiration date
- Put enough on- at least one ounce- enough to fill a shot glass
- Seek shade/avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10am-4pm
- Wear a hat with a wide brim
- Wear sunglasses
Welcome to BBT Tips
My grandma and grandpa were a major influence in my life. They were part of the Great Generation that survived the Depression and World War II. Through all these hardships they learned how to live the simple life and yet thrive and be happy. I feel lucky to have had what I consider a small amount of this knowledge passed down to me.
Over the course of my life and especially the past 10 years of running Best Bib and Tucker I have put much of this know-how to use. As I shared this wisdom with customers and my two twenty-something daughters, I discovered the tips and tricks I thought were common sense are actually bits of information that should be taught and shared. That is where this blog emerged. I’ll share laundry hints, clothes maintenance tips, style and color trends, ways to stretch your wardrobe budget, and many other useful tidbits.
Follow me to learn something new, just to go down memory lane and to say “hey, I know how to do that”, or share your own family “secrets”.
