It’s a myth that a capsule wardrobe needs to choose between “tan/brown” or  “gray/black”. Instead the colors you choose to go with them really shape what you are able to do.

Today’s capsule started with a teal sweater and a tan dress. So often my go-to with teal is gray, so I wanted to explore what it would look like with other colors. Turns out navy and tan are great alternatives!

There are many ways to combine these items. Here are a few of our favorites.

Start simple by combining 2 pieces at a time then add an accessory. Once you’ve got these combinations down add a third piece.

I’m always amazed at how an outfit changes when a top is tucked in vs left out. Too curvy when you tuck in? Try a cardigan over top.

Sleeveless dresses in winter usually mean you need a cardigan or jacket over top. But for a change up, try layering a sweater or button-up top under your dress.

Why wear one top under your cardigan when you can wear two. For chilly winter days there is nothing better than double cardigans.
